Private Selection Frozen Foods

It's not a secret, I love food. Not only eating it, but cooking it too. I really can cook you any meal you want to eat and from what I'm told I'm pretty good at it. They aren't just being polite, friends plates are always empty at the end of a meal, even after second (or third) helpings. One thing I don't do is bake, I don't have the patience for it. If my husband wants brownies or a cake he will bake one. Yes, he really does. I almost feel bad for a brief second, then I get over it.

We don't eat to much fozen food at my house. Except the occasional frozen pizza with extra spices and cheese added by us. I was willing to try Private Selection from my local Fred Meyer. I grabbed a Fire Roasted Vegetable Marble Hearth Baked Pizza, Southwestern Style Chicken Trumpets and Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

First we had the Vegetable Pizza and Southwester Chicken Trumpets. I have to admit, the pizza was delicious! You won't miss the meat that is not on this pizza. The toppings were: tomato sauce, roasted zucchini, red & freen peppers, garlic, mozzarella with a garnish of basil.  Perfect flavors in every bite. The pizza didn't need any 'doctoring' up like other frozen pizzas I've had. I will definately get this pizza from now on and it's not expensive, about $6. The size is perfect for 2 people.

I wasn't as impressed with the trumpets. The trumpets are tortilla filled with sauteed chicken, crisp peppers, onions, cheddar cheese and chili peppers. When I saw the description on the box, it sounded very good and it was. The flavors were great. But they were actually a little dry (I followed the cook time on the box). They should have been dipped in sour cream or salsa to help. There are 8 in a box and the trumpets are about 2 inches long.

Next was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Yummy! Get one! This is perfect for those of us who are "Baking Challenged". Just heat and eat. Perfect size for a dessert to me, not a huge portion. There are 2 in a box.

The thing we liked about Private Selection is the ingredients used. You can actually read and understand the ingredient list on the package. No fifteen letter words with only two vowels. You will know what your eating by reading the box, without having to check dictionary.com on your cell phone.
