Crock Pot Seasoning Mix

I know I've said it before, but I really do love food reviews. I love to cook and even more than that I love to eat. I'm not a salad / dressing on the side kind of girl.

I received three Crock Pot Seasoning Mixes; Hearty Beef Stew, Savory Pot Roast and BBQ Pulled Pork. We went for the Hearty Beef Stew. The ingredients and directions were simple on the packet.

Need: 1 packet of Crock Pot Hearty Beef Stew Seasoning Mix, 2 Pounds of beef for stew cut into 1 inch cubes, 5 cups of chopped fresh vegetables, 1 1/3 cups of water. Put it all in the Crock Pot and cook 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high.

I made mine pretty much the same way. Except I seared the meat.

My ingredients were: 1 Pack of Crock Pot Hearty Beef Stew Mix, 2 lbs. of cubed beef, 1 large carrot - chopped, 1 celery stalk - chopped, 4 red potatoes - chopped, 1/4 of a large yellow onion - chopped, 1 parsnip - chopped.

This is where you turn your Crock Pot on.After searing, the beef cubes will be hot so you want to put them into a hot Crock Pot.

Add about 2 -3 tablespoons of olive oil to medium skillet over med-high heat until hot.
I seared my beef cubes until browned, it should take about 10-12 minutes to get all sides of the meat. Normally I would add salt and pepper on the cubes while searing. I didn't this time because I was using seasoning packet. When your finished searing put the meat in the Crock Pot. Don't throw the dirty pan in the sink yet!

Put about a 1/2 cup of water in the pan and scrape all the bits off - that's flavor! If you do it while the pan is hot (but burner off) they will come up easily. Don't worry about using a 1/2 cup of water, most of it will evaporate.

Put the drippings in the Crock Pot along with the chopped vegetables. Mix the Crock Pot Hearty Beef Stew Mix with 1 1/3 cups of water and pour it into the Crock Pot. Mix everything together well. Place the lid on the Crock Pot, I cooked my stew for 4 hours on high.

FHS received this product free for review purposes, all opinions expressed are solely mine.

I made some drop dumplings, directions are on Bisquick box. If you want you can add a little salt & pepper, and throw in some chopped thyme or rosemary to the batter for extra flavor. Drop batter on top of stew by the tablespoon when stew is nearly done (maybe 20 minutes cook time left). You only need 6 - 8 dumpling drops, keep in mind it will expand while cooking. Put the lid back on and wait 30 - 40 minutes and enjoy your meal!

The end result is delicious. I love the seasoning packet, it makes it super easy to create comfort food. Next we will give the pulled pork mix a try. I have to go through the left over stew first.

How to get it: Order them online for $2.25 each. I didn't see them in my local grocery store but I'm sure they will be available everywhere soon!
